Synergy Charter Academy serves TK-5 students at our tuition-free public charter school in South LA. Our small community school grows the next generation of problem solvers through commitment to a balanced, whole-child approach. 1. Award Winning Education
We were the first elementary school in South Los Angeles to be awarded the National Blue Ribbon for our overall academic excellence and progress toward closing achievement gaps. We have also been recognized as a California Distinguished School. These awards affirm the hard work of our entire community to create a safe and welcoming school where students master challenging and engaging content.
2. Small, Safe School
At large schools, students can become just another face in a crowded classroom. That will never happen at Synergy Charter Academy. We maintain small classes--with a max size of 26 students per class. With a fully credentialed teacher and full-time Instructional Assistant in each class, we can get to know every student and family personally.
3. Well-Rounded Program
Every student’s day is enriched with outdoor play, nourishing meal times and integrated art. We take field trips to learn about our local community and our 5th graders look forward to their annual trip to Disneyland. Our enrichment program includes art, dance, karate and STEM activities. We watch our students thrive and bloom when offered a host of activities to develop their interests and skills.
4. Support for the Whole Family
We care deeply about our students and their families. When we discover needs in our school community we mobilize to meet those needs. Parent workshops include building adult literacy, family financial planning, and understanding brain development of children and adolescents. We strive to make our students’ lives better in every way that we can, both inside and outside of the classroom.
5. Early Access to STEM Learning
We recognize that science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are the gateway to the future. That’s why we offer STEM learning opportunities from an early age; to inspire and motivate young learners to be curious about the world and how they can contribute to the solutions of tomorrow as the next generation of problem solvers.
6. Commitment to Everyone’s Success
We are here to close the opportunity gap and the achievement gap. To that end, we put student success at the forefront of everything we do. We foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential. Our school counselor supports the social emotional needs of our students. All students, regardless of IEP or 504 status, are invited to attend our tuition-free charter school.
7. Foundational Academics
Our certified and caring teachers build an academic foundation that supports students now, and prepares them for success in college and beyond. Our students routinely exceed the benchmark on California state math and reading benchmark tests and we’ve proudly watched our elementary graduates go on to achieve scholarships and opportunities as students in our 6th-8th and 9th-12th grade schools. We are fortunate to watch the fruits of our labor grow from TK to 12th grade.
8. Caring Community
Our community of students, families and teachers lead with compassion and care–and fun! We love to come together for special events like Family Art Night, Science Night and Family Field Day. We also host a variety of events throughout the year like Coffee with the Principal, Parent Book Club and our Ambassador Program. We invite everyone into our school community and we are grateful for the support we receive from our families.
9. After School Program
We have partnered with After School All-Stars to bring our families consistent, quality after school care to Synergy Charter Academy. From after school until 6:00 p.m. each day, the staff at After School All-Stars Program assists students with their homework, provides an afternoon snack, and offers activities such as sports, arts & crafts, science, cooking, dance, and more.
10. 100% Tuition-Free
We offer all of this, and so much more, to our students 100% tuition-free. We believe it is possible, and equitable, to close the achievement gap with a free, public school education.
