Hear the Valedictorian of the Synergy Quantum Academy Class of 2016 give her spoken word address. Xitlalli has attended Synergy schools since 4th grade. She will attend Barnard College in New York City.

turn the vet at Translate doesn't carry do you remember the day you started Elementary School walking in with a light up Sketchers thinking you were cool coming home  play games antenna ball how about Dodge Ram kick button often a mall  do you remember chocolate milk in bags or how about hide and go seek and freeze tag how about Middle School bring those dates epic moving to this place called kinetic remember PE across the street or how about learning in The Summer's Heat we were so broke we had no air conditioner but we suffered together so our pain was similar the how about your freshman year is it go you first step foot here a transformation from head to toe viewing the world differently as you know we were older and more mature social issues became something we had to endure we were no longer coming home with ketchup stains for the resume replaced with emotional chains  remember thinking I wish I could be a kid again we're Purity and ignorance ran through my veins you see now that you stand before me and listen gallons  blacks and Browns for the past 12 years of Our Lives Society has striped stitching us with stereotypes they practice voices and keep us from making noises subliminally they've sent us messages they think we like the skills and the intelligence but who are they who are they to set the bar so when we walk the stage that's making known that we sure as hell are something that they put on as much as I'll try to label us with misconceptions we are way more than just our complexion we are way more than just Arkham we are more than just students of color  in fact we are more than just Cynergy Scholars  we are singers musicians poets and rappers  mathematicians and writers we're sisters Brothers  we are more than just the skin color Sedona exercise otherwise for the love of God don't fall into their lies just because we're first generation  it doesn't you are here we are some to walk the stage I guess the side and eyes are not on the same page because Carrie you are about to graduate in a bit straight and tall when Society wants you to sit and Synergy taught you right to walk straight and Tall to lift your chin up the Spy I'm Synergy taught you good they told us we were more than just the number even as kids from the hood and synergy turned our names individually  they made the time to get to Noah's personally  because of that my mind can process the idea of leaving literally seems like nonsense the idea of not coming here anymore  really hurt and it's right up the poor here are the people that I've learned to love the most now I'm literally moving from coast to coast no wonder why I'm afraid to go because the people here are irreplaceable where else will I find teachers who feed me  who offer me food teachers who openly express to you their gratitude my mind is not able to process because the idea of leaving I still repress I think I'm in denial to believe that my days here are final I am leaving the day I am leaving the place that taught me to bring out the best in each other and in our so everyday in everyway those cheesy chance that we used to say in the morning I used to hate I've literally been chanting them since I was 8 now that I'm leaving there's one thing on my mind  the days like these will go in the blink of an eye so to all of you who watched me grow  it's all of you who picked me up when I was low  to all of you who always believed in me  I refuse to tell you goodbye because this is not the end  all I can say for now is that I will miss you until I see you again  into the class of 2016  don't forget to pause life for a bit even when times get hard or when you feel that you are like a puzzle that does not fit remember at the difficult equate to the impossible you are more than just capable you are actually Unstoppable  so remember that's sometimes you must drown to learn to Breathe Again  I bet your life has a purpose even when it gets hard to explain to the class of 2016 the wise person once said life is not about the pursuit of happiness it is about the happiness of pursuit so live your life even when you don't feel ready go out there pack lights and explore heavy thank you and congratulations to the class of 2016
